Imaging during dynamic processes

If you want to study ongoing processes in your sample, or if your sample needs to be investigated under specific conditions – we provide imaging tailored to your needs. May it be temperature, humidity, electric connectivity, liquids passing through the sample, loading applied to the samples or specially designed holders. We have been involved in numerous projects which required custom-made designs both for research projects and in industrial collaborations.

Movie showing a virtual cut of an insulin pen during injection with colour-coding dependent on the components. In order to capture the movements, we went to a synchrotron to probe the insulin pen with high time-resolution followed by intensive data analysis.
Stone wool fibres were compressed by applying varying loads during X-ray tomography. Based on especially developed analysis methods, the lengths and curvatures could be extracted from the 3D images. Top rows: Overview and zoom 3D images of stone wool fibres being compressed at different loads. Bottom rows: Statistical information about the extracted lengths and curvatures of the stone wool fibres at different loads. With increased loading, a broader distribution of both fibre lengths and curvature was found.
The company Tetra Pak wanted to analyse the folding of its layered materials at different angles. Specially designed holders were produced to perform X-ray CT at different bending angles followed by subsequent analysis. The images shown above show 2D slices, “virtual cuts” through the sample being folded at different angles.
